SIRIUS S00 power contactor for motor switching up to 5.5 kW
The Siemens 3RT1016-1AH01-1AA0 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor with screw-type terminals, sized for motor loads up to 4 kW at 400 V AC-3 (4.5 kW at 500 V, 5.5 kW at 690 V). The S00 frame keeps the footprint tight at 45 mm wide by 57.5 mm high by 72 mm deep — fits standard 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 with snap-on mounting, no tools needed for the rail. Rated for AC-3 duty at 400 V, this contactor handles the inrush of a 4 kW induction motor — pump, fan, conveyor, compressor — without welding the contacts. The AC-4 rating of 8.5 A at 400 V covers plugging and inching applications where the motor reverses or stops under load.
Termination and wiring
Main circuit terminals accept screw-clamp connections: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid/stranded. AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), and 1x 12. The IP20 finger-safe front cover stays on during operation — the terminal itself is also IP20 rated. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with zero clearance — 6 mm spacing at the side is the minimum for heat dissipation. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive dust or moisture.
Coil and control circuit
The coil is rated for 50/60 Hz at 48 V — pick-up range is 0.8 to 1.1 x rated voltage at 50 Hz, 0.85 to 1.1 at 60 Hz. DC switching capability on the auxiliary contacts: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V. The single instantaneous contact (1 NO) handles the control signal.
Short-circuit protection and coordination
For type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor after a fault), use a gL/gG fuse rated 20 A. Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement) allows a 35 A gL/gG fuse. The mechanical life is typical 30 million operations — no-load switching cycles.
