What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT1016-1AH02 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame, rated for switching motor loads up to 5.5 kW at 690 V and 4.5 kW at 500 V. The 24 VDC coil draws the listed holding current; verify your control transformer can support the inrush if multiple contactors pull in simultaneously. Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, so it drops into any standard panel rail without adapters.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The AC-4 rating of 8.5 A at 400 V is the one that governs plugging and inching duty — frequent starts and reversals on a conveyor or hoist. For standard motor starting (AC-3), the contactor handles the full 5.5 kW at 690 V. The 10 A rating at 24 V covers the resistive load curve (AC-12) for auxiliary circuits. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive dust or condensation — no need for an additional enclosure in most panel builds. Screw-type terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded. The 72 mm depth keeps the contactor within the standard 100 mm deep enclosure profile. Side-by-side mounting is permitted without derating, so you can gang multiple units on the same rail for multi-motor groups.
Coordination and protection
For type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor after a short circuit), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A. For type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault), use gL/gG 35 A. This matters when you're sizing the motor branch circuit for selectivity with downstream overload relays.
