SIRIUS S00 power contactor — 3RT1016-1AL05-ZX95
The Siemens 3RT1016-1AL05-ZX95 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor with a 24 VDC coil, rated for motor switching up to 5.5 kW at 690 V and 4.5 kW at 500 V (AC-3). In AC-4 duty — the punishing reversing/plugging regime — it handles 8.5 A at 400 V, which is the spec that governs life on frequent jogging or inching applications. Three main poles with screw-type terminals accept 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75…4 mm²) solid/stranded. The auxiliary contact block provides one N/O + one N/C, rated 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V DC — enough for PLC-level signal switching but watch the DC derating curve if you're driving an inductive hold coil.
Panel fit and mounting
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. The S00 frame is compact at 45 mm wide × 57.5 mm tall × 114 mm deep — three units side-by-side fit a 135 mm span on the rail with no derating for temperature as long as ambient stays below 60 °C. Side-by-side mounting is permitted; no gap required between contactors. IP20 on the front and at the terminals — fine for a clean panel environment, not for washdown. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for conductive pollution in industrial enclosures, so keep it behind a gland plate, not in the field.
Coordination and protection
Type 2 coordination requires a gL/gG fuse rated 20 A; Type 1 allows up to 35 A. If the panel spec calls for Type 2 (no welded contacts after a fault), the 20 A fuse limit is binding — don't oversize the branch circuit protection without checking the coordination table.
