The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1016-1AP01-ZW97 is a size S00 power contactor built for switching motor and resistive loads in control panels. Its 24 V coil pulls in at 50/60 Hz and carries 10 A in AC-12 duty — that's the resistive load rating, so it handles heaters, lighting banks, and transformer primaries cleanly. For motor duty, the AC-4 rating at 400 V is 8.5 A, which covers small three-phase motors up to about 4 kW depending on the load cycle. The S00 frame is the smallest in the SIRIUS family — 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm tall, 72 mm deep — and it snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, so it fits tight panel layouts without hogging space.
Mounting and wiring
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (DIN EN 50022). Side-by-side mounting is allowed — no gap between contactors — which saves rail space in multi-contactor groups. The screw terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded, with an AWG equivalent of 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or 1x 12. That range covers most panel wiring from control-circuit tails to motor feeders. The front face is IP20 — finger-safe once installed, but not sealed against dust or moisture, so it belongs inside a cabinet, not on the open floor.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination, the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A. Type 1 coordination bumps that to 35 A. Maximum operating altitude is 2,000 m.
