SIRIUS Size S00 power contactor, 24 V coil
The Siemens 3RT1016-1AP01-ZW98 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact Size S00 frame, rated for a 24 V coil pulling in at 10 A. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, so it drops straight into a standard panel without adapters. The coil holds at 24 V nominal; the 10 A rating at that voltage covers the pick-up inrush typical of contactor coils in this class. At 60 V the rated current drops to 2 A, at 110 V to 1 A, and at 220 V to 0.3 A — the coil draw falls as supply voltage rises, which is the expected curve for a DC-operated solenoid.
DIN rail integration and terminal wiring
The 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm tall, 72 mm deep footprint fits tightly against adjacent devices — side-by-side mounting is permitted with a 6 mm gap to the side for heat dissipation. Front face carries IP20 finger-safe protection; the terminals themselves are also IP20, so the contactor can sit in a non-sealed enclosure as long as the front is not exposed to tools. Main circuit terminals accept screw-type connections: 2x (0.5–1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75–2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75–4 mm²) solid/stranded. For AWG, that's 2x (20–16), 2x (18–14), or 1x 12. The dual-wire entry helps when looping through to a downstream overload relay without an extra terminal block.
Switching capacity and coordination
For motor loads in AC-2 duty at 400 V, the contactor is rated for 4 kW; in AC-4 (plugging/inching) at 400 V it handles 8.5 A. The AC-12 maximum operating current is 10 A, which matches the coil rating — useful for resistive or transformer-coupled loads. For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor on fault) the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A; Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault) allows a 35 A fuse. Rated operational voltage covers 50 Hz at 230 V and 60 Hz at 230 V. The contactor is also rated for switching at 500 V (4.5 kW) and 690 V (5.5 kW) — those are the motor power figures for the main poles, not the coil circuit. The coil itself sees only the 24 V control voltage.
