The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1016-1AQ01 is a size S00 power contactor designed for switching motor loads in control panels. It carries a 24 VDC coil and is rated for 10 A at 24 V, making it a standard choice for 24 VDC control circuits in industrial automation. The contactor is rated for AC-2 duty at 4 kW at 400 V and AC-4 duty at 8.5 A at 400 V, covering both slip-ring motor starting and plugging/inching applications. It also switches motor loads up to 4.5 kW at 500 V and 5.5 kW at 690 V.
Panel integration and mounting
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. The 45 mm width and 57.5 mm height fit standard S00 footprint; depth is 72 mm. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, with a 6 mm side clearance required. Front protection is IP20; terminals are also IP20. Pollution degree 3 rating means it's suitable for industrial environments with conductive pollution.
Wiring and coordination
Main circuit terminals accept screw-type connections: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). AWG equivalents: 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), 1x 12. For Type 1 coordination, use a 35 A gL/gG fuse; for Type 2 coordination, use a 20 A gL/gG fuse. Mechanical life is rated at 30,000,000 operating cycles typical.
