SIRIUS S00 power contactor for motor and resistive loads
The Siemens 3RT1016-1AT61 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor with three normally-open main contacts, rated for switching motor and resistive loads in control panels. It carries a 10 A maximum operating current in AC-12 duty (resistive), and 4 kW at 400 V in AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors). The contactor is designed for screw and snap-on mounting onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, with a 45 mm width that fits standard panel layouts.
Switching ratings and duty classes
The 3RT1016-1AT61 is rated across multiple duty classes and voltages. For AC-2 at 400 V, it switches 4 kW; for AC-4 at 400 V, the rated operating current is 8.5 A. At 690 V, the motor rating is 5.5 kW. The contactor also handles DC switching: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V. The AC-12 resistive rating of 10 A sets the ceiling for general-purpose load switching.
Short-circuit coordination and terminal details
For type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor after a short circuit), the required backup fuse is a gL/gG 20 A. For type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement), a 35 A gL/gG fuse is specified. Main circuit terminals are screw-type, accepting 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded conductors. AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or 1x 12.
