What It Is & Where It Goes
The Siemens 3RT1016-1AU05-ZW95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S00 frame size — the smallest in the series, built for switching motor loads up to 5.5 kW at 690 V AC-3 or 4.5 kW at 500 V AC-3. It's a 3-pole normally-open contactor with a 24 V DC coil, screw-type terminals on the main circuit, and IP20 finger-safe protection on the front face. The S00 envelope (45 mm wide, 57.5 mm tall, 114 mm deep) is sized for high-density panels: it snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 or screws directly to a mounting plate.
Ratings That Matter for Fit
The AC-3 motor rating is 5.5 kW at 690 V and 4.5 kW at 500 V — that's the load-switching capability for a standard squirrel-cage motor. For resistive loads (AC-1), the contactor handles up to 10 A continuous. The DC coil pulls 10 A at 24 V nominal; it holds in down to about 18 V and drops out below that. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with a pollution degree of 3 (industrial environment, conductive pollution possible). Altitude derating applies above 2 000 m. Mechanical life is rated at 30 million operations typical — this is a high-cycle part for frequent switching applications like conveyors or pumps.
Terminal & Wiring Details
Main-circuit terminals are screw-type, accepting solid or stranded copper: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or single 12 AWG. For short-circuit protection with type 2 coordination (no welding), use a gL/gG fuse rated 20 A; type 1 coordination allows a 35 A fuse. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with 6 mm spacing to adjacent devices — no extra gap needed for heat dissipation at rated load.
