SIRIUS Size S00 Power Contactor, 24 VDC Coil
The Siemens 3RT1016-1AV02 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the Size S00 frame, designed for switching motor loads and resistive circuits in control panels. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, fitting a 45 mm wide footprint on the rail. The 24 VDC coil draws its rating from a control transformer or DC supply; the contactor is rated for 10 A at AC-12 (resistive) and handles motor starting at 4 kW at 400 V AC-2 duty. For heavy inching or plugging duty (AC-4), the rated operational current is 8.5 A at 400 V. The DC coil control voltage is 24 VDC, with a rated value of 10 A at 24 V for the main contacts. The coil operates across a range of 0.8 to 1.1 times rated voltage at 50 Hz and 0.85 to 1.1 at 60 Hz.
Mounting and Integration
Snap-on mounting onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 is standard; the 45 mm width and 57.5 mm height allow dense packing in a standard enclosure. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with a 6 mm clearance to adjacent devices for thermal dissipation. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded conductors. AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or 1x 12. The enclosure offers IP20 protection on the front and at the terminals. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C. Maximum altitude is 2,000 m without derating. Pollution degree 3 applies.
Motor Ratings and Coordination
For three-phase motor loads at 400 V, the contactor is rated 4 kW in AC-2 duty (starting only) and 5.5 kW at 690 V. At 500 V, the rating is 4.5 kW. The AC-3 rating (starting and running) is not separately stated in the evidence, but the AC-2 and AC-4 figures cover the typical motor switching envelope. Short-circuit coordination: with type 2 coordination, a gL/gG fuse of 20 A is required; with type 1 coordination, a 35 A fuse. The contactor has a mechanical life of 30 million operations typical.
