SIRIUS size S00 power contactor for motor and resistive loads
The Siemens 3RT1016-1BM45-ZX95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact size S00 frame, designed for switching motor loads up to 4 kW at 400 V in AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors, starting/stopping) and rated 8.5 A at 400 V in AC-4 duty (plugging, inching, reversing). Three normally open main contacts handle the power circuit; the coil draws 3.3 W DC holding power, so the control transformer can be sized lean. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept up to 2x 4 mm² or 1x AWG 12, and the contactor mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022.
Mounting and panel integration
Width is 45 mm, height 57.5 mm, depth 114 mm — the S00 footprint fits tightly on a DIN rail enclosure. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with 6 mm spacing to adjacent devices, so a multi-contactor motor starter group packs into a narrow panel. Pollution degree 3 rating means the contactor tolerates conductive dust and humidity typical of industrial control cabinets without conformal coating.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor under short circuit), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A. For Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault), the fuse can be gL/gG 35 A. The contactor is rated for a maximum operating altitude of 2000 m and an ambient temperature range of -25 °C to +60 °C during operation.
Auxiliary contact ratings and mechanical life
The auxiliary contact block (integrated or add-on) carries 10 A at AC-12 (resistive), 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, 4.5 kW at 500 V, and 5.5 kW at 690 V. DC switching ratings: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V. Mechanical life is 30 million operations typical, so the contactor outlasts most panel cycles in conveyor or pump duty.
