SIRIUS S00 power contactor — 24 V DC coil, varistor suppression
The Siemens 3RT1016-1DB42-ZX95 is a SIRIUS S00-frame power contactor with a 24 V DC magnet coil drawing 3.3 W closing and holding, fitted with an integrated varistor surge suppressor. It switches motor loads in AC-3 duty up to 5.5 kW at 690 V and 4.5 kW at 500 V, and handles AC-4 reversing or plugging service at 8.5 A at 400 V. The screw-type main circuit terminals accept 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²), or max. 2x (0.75…4 mm²) solid/stranded conductors. Mounting is screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. The 45 x 57.5 x 111 mm footprint and 6 mm side clearance allow side-by-side stacking without derating. IP20 finger-safe protection on the front and terminals means it is intended for enclosed panel installation, not open washdown areas.
Duty ratings and coordination
The AC-3 rating (4.5 kW at 500 V, 5.5 kW at 690 V) governs standard squirrel-cage motor switching. For resistive loads (AC-1), the maximum operating current is 10 A. The AC-4 rating of 8.5 A at 400 V covers inching and plugging duty where the contactor makes and breaks locked-rotor current. With type 2 coordination, a 20 A gL/gG fuse protects the contactor; type 1 coordination allows a 35 A fuse. The auxiliary contact block (1 N/O + 1 N/C, instantaneous) switches 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 6 A at 230 V, and 3 A at 400 V. Mechanical life is rated at 30 million operations typical.
Sourcing and fit
This contactor is sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution. Availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time. The S00 frame and screw-terminal wiring match the standard panel layout for 3RT1 contactors; the 24 V DC coil with varistor is a common variant for PLC-driven panels where coil suppression is required.
