Key ratings and what they mean
The 3RT1016-1JB41-ZW97: The 24 V DC coil draws 2.3 W for both closing and holding, so the control transformer or PLC output must supply that continuously—no coil economizer circuit needed. At 400 V AC-3 duty it switches 4 kW motor loads; at 690 V that rises to 5.5 kW, making it suitable for 400 V line-fed conveyor drives in a warehouse shuttle system. Short-circuit coordination is specified: Type 2 coordination requires a 20 A gL/gG fuse; Type 1 allows a 35 A fuse. This matters for panel selectivity—if you need the contactor to survive a fault without replacement, spec the 20 A fuse upstream. The screw terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) solid, 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) stranded, or up to 1x 12 AWG. The 45 mm width and 72 mm depth fit standard 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, with 6 mm clearance needed at the side for heat dissipation.
Integration notes
The contactor snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail (EN 50022) or can be screw-mounted. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, but derate per the thermal curve above 40 °C ambient. The IP20 front and terminal protection means it is safe for finger contact inside a closed panel but not for washdown environments. Pollution degree 3 rating suits industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation—typical for a motor control center or panel in a non-climate-controlled warehouse.
