A built-in diode handles surge suppression across the coil, which saves an external flyback diode on the panel wiring.
For motor duty, the key numbers are the AC-2 and AC-4 ratings at 400 V: 4 kW in AC-2 (slip-ring motor starting) and 8.5 A in AC-4 (plugging / inching duty). At higher line voltages the part delivers 4.5 kW at 500 V and 5.5 kW at 690 V — useful for 690 V industrial networks common in mining or marine installations. The auxiliary contact block is a single-pole instantaneous contact (1 NO or 1 NC depending on wiring). For applications needing more feedback, an add-on block is required — the base unit carries only one.
These fuse ratings set the upstream protection sizing — don't oversize the branch fuse beyond 35 A gG if the contactor must survive a fault. Terminals accept solid or stranded copper: 2x 0.5–1.5 mm², 2x 0.75–2.5 mm², or max 2x 0.75–4 mm². AWG equivalents are 2x 20–16, 2x 18–14, and 1x 12.
