The Siemens 3RT1016-1XB43-0VE1 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the Size S00 frame — the smallest in the series, 45 mm wide on the DIN rail, built for switching motor loads up to 5.5 kW at 690 V or 4.5 kW at 500 V. Coil is 24 VDC with an integrated RC surge suppressor across the coil terminals, so you don't need to add an external snubber for DC switching. Screw-type terminals on both main and auxiliary circuits, rated IP20 on the enclosure and the terminals themselves.
Frame, mounting, and wiring
Size S00 means 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm tall, 114 mm deep. Screw and snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Side-by-side mounting allowed — no derating gap required for a row of these on the rail. Screw terminals accept 2x 0.5 to 1.5 mm² solid, 2x 0.75 to 2.5 mm², or max 2x 0.75 to 4 mm². For the main contacts, AWG 2x 20-16, 2x 18-14, or 1x 12. Same gauge range on the auxiliary contacts. Strip length is standard for screw terminals — lands clean with a ferrule.
Ratings and what they mean for the panel
Motor power ratings: 4.5 kW at 500 V, 5.5 kW at 690 V — that's AC-3 duty (squirrel-cage motors, starting and disconnecting under load). For AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors) at 400 V, rated 4 kW. AC-4 (plugging, inching) at 400 V carries 8.5 A. The auxiliary contact ratings are where the RC suppressor matters: at 24 VDC it switches 10 A, at 60 VDC 2 A, at 110 VDC 1 A, at 220 VDC 0.3 A. The RC element clips the inductive kick on DC coil dropout. Coil closing and holding power is 3.3 W DC, steady-state — no inrush spike to size a power supply around.
