What this contactor is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1016-2BB41 is a size S00 power contactor rated for a 24 V DC coil. Its rated operational current at AC-12 is 10 A, and it delivers 4 kW at AC-2 / 400 V. The contactor uses spring-loaded terminals for both the main current circuit and the auxiliary/control circuit, which speeds wiring and reduces the risk of loose connections under vibration. The coil pickup voltage is 0.85 x rated value (20.4 V), and dropout is 1.1 x rated value (26.4 V). Holding power at DC is 3.3 W, so the coil stays cool in continuous duty. The contactor is rated for pollution degree 3, making it suitable for industrial environments where conductive dust or condensation may be present.
Mounting and integration
The 3RT1016-2BB41 mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 50022. Its footprint is 45 mm wide, 60 mm high, and 73 mm deep. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can pack multiple contactors on a single rail without derating for heat buildup. The IP20 rating on the front and terminals means it is protected against finger contact but is not sealed against moisture — keep it inside an enclosure rated for the environment.
Switching capacity and coordination
For AC-3 motor switching at 400 V, the contactor is rated at 4 kW. At AC-4 (inching/plugging duty) at 400 V, the rated operational current is 8.5 A. For type of coordination 2 (no welding after a short circuit), the required backup fuse is gL/gG 20 A; for type 1 (welding permitted), use a 35 A gL/gG fuse. The contactor's mechanical life is 30 million operations typical, so it holds up in high-cycle applications like conveyor or pump control.
