Power contactor, size S00 — 24 V DC coil, spring-loaded terminals
The Siemens 3RT1016-2BB42 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the size S00 frame — the smallest of the SIRIUS contactor range, designed for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels up to 5.5 kW at 690 V. Rated for a 24 V DC coil that draws 3.3 W both on pickup and hold — no power drop after closure, so the coil supply must be rated for continuous 3.3 W draw. Main and auxiliary circuits use spring-loaded terminals, accepting 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2x (24... 14) AWG — no screw torque to check, but the wire strip length must match the cage spec. Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022; side-by-side mounting is allowed, so multiple contactors pack tight in a row for multi-motor groups.
Ratings and what they mean for fit
Operational current at AC-12 (resistive load) is 10 A — that is the full-load current for general-purpose resistive switching. For motor duty, the AC-4 rating at 400 V is 8.5 A, which covers frequent inching or plug-reverse applications where contact wear is higher. Motor power ratings: 4.5 kW at 500 V and 5.5 kW at 690 V — sized for a 3-phase induction motor in those voltage classes. The AC-2 rating at 400 V is 4 kW, suitable for slip-ring motor starting. Coil pickup at 0.85 x 24 V; dropout at 1.1 x 24 V. Pollution degree 3. IP20 on front and terminals. Operating temperature -25 to +60 °C.
