SIRIUS Power Contactor, S00 Frame — Spring-Loaded Termination
The Siemens 3RT1016-2EP04-0KS0-ZX95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S00 frame size, 45 mm wide, with spring-loaded terminals on both the main current circuit and the auxiliary/control circuit. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. Rated for AC-2 duty at 400 V delivering 4 kW, and AC-4 at 400 V rated at 8.5 A. Motor power ratings reach 4.5 kW at 500 V and 5.5 kW at 690 V. The contactor carries a mechanical life of 30,000,000 operating cycles typical. The built-in surge suppressor uses RC elements, and the unit is rated IP20 on the front and at the terminals — suitable for enclosed panel environments where personnel protection from accidental contact is needed. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with pollution degree 3.
Termination and Coordination
Main and auxiliary circuits use spring-loaded terminals accepting 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded conductors (2x 24... 14 AWG). No screw torque to verify — the spring cage holds the conductor once inserted, which speeds panel wiring and eliminates re-torquing during commissioning. For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor after a short circuit) the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A. For Type 1 coordination (unit may need replacement after a fault) the fuse is gL/gG 35 A. This gives the panel builder a clear selectivity boundary when designing the branch circuit.
Lifecycle and Sourcing
The RC surge suppressor is integrated, so no external module is needed for coil suppression on standard AC control circuits. The contactor is quoted to order against an RFQ; lead time and pricing are confirmed at the time of inquiry.
Panel Fit and Mounting
At 45 mm wide and 60 mm high, with a depth of 114 mm, the S00 frame fits standard 35 mm DIN-rail enclosures. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so multiple contactors can be ganged without derating for heat buildup in a typical panel layout.
