The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1017-1AB01-ZX95 is a power contactor in the compact size S00 frame, rated for motor switching up to 5.5 kW at 690 V in AC-3 duty, and 5.5 kW at 500 V as well. It carries an AC-12 operating current rating of 10 A for resistive loads, and an AC-4 rating of 8.5 A at 400 V for reversing or inching duty where the contactor makes and breaks stalled-rotor current. The coil is 24 V, 50/60 Hz, with a pick-up tolerance of 0.8 to 1.1 times rated voltage at 50 Hz and 0.85 to 1.1 at 60 Hz — so it holds in on a weak 24 V supply but drops out cleanly below the undervoltage threshold.
The front is IP20, so finger-safe when wired; the terminals themselves are also IP20, but the contactor body is not sealed against washdown — keep it inside the cabinet. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) — or 1x 12 AWG — so it covers standard motor and control wiring without needing ferrules for stranded.
Environmental limits and coordination
With type of coordination 2, the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 20 A; with type 1 coordination, it's 35 A — so the short-circuit protection choice affects whether the contactor is reusable after a fault.
