The Siemens 3RT1017-1AF01-ZW96 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor with a 24 VDC coil, sized for motor switching in control panels where the 45 mm width and 72 mm depth fit tight DIN-rail layouts.
At AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors, wound-rotor) on 400 V, it switches 5.5 kW; at AC-4 duty (plugging, inching) on 400 V, it handles 8.5 A. The 24 VDC coil draws 10 A at 24 V rated value, dropping to 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V — so the coil power supply must be sized for the inrush at the actual control voltage. Type 1 coordination requires a 35 A gL/gG fuse; type 2 coordination requires 20 A. That decides the upstream protection and whether the contactor survives a short-circuit fault without replacement.
The S00 frame is 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm high, 72 mm deep — compact enough for high-density panels. Screw terminals accept 2x (0.5...1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75...2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75...4 mm²) solid/stranded.
