What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT1017-1AH02-ZW95 is a SIRIUS S00-size power contactor, screw and snap-on mount onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. At 45 mm wide × 57.5 mm tall × 72 mm deep, it fits the standard panel footprint for a size S00 frame — no surprises on the gland plate.
Motor switching and coordination
For motor loads, the key number is AC-4 at 400 V: 8.5 A. That's the reversing/plugging duty rating — the one that matters for frequent starts, jogs, or inching. AC-2 at 400 V carries 5.5 kW for slip-ring motors. If you're running standard squirrel-cage motors in normal start/run, AC-3 is the usual curve; this contactor's AC-3 rating isn't listed here, so size against the AC-4 figure if your cycle count is high. Short-circuit coordination: with type 2 assignment, use a gL/gG fuse rated 20 A. Type 1 coordination allows up to 35 A gL/gG. That's the difference between the contactor surviving a fault (type 2) versus needing replacement after (type 1). For a production line, type 2 saves downtime.
Terminals and wiring
Screw-type terminals on the main circuit, accepting 2× (0.5–1.5 mm²), 2× (0.75–2.5 mm²), or max 2× (0.75–4 mm²) — or AWG 2× (20–16), 2× (18–14), 1× 12. The dual-wire capability is handy for daisy-chaining control power without a separate terminal block. IP20 on the front and at the terminals; pollution degree 3, so it's rated for industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with a maximum altitude of 2,000 m.
Sourcing and lifecycle
This is an active, current-production part from Siemens' SIRIUS line.
