What this contactor is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1017-1AP02-ZW95 is a Size S00 power contactor, rated to switch motor loads up to 5.5 kW at both 500 V and 690 V. It carries an AC-4 rating of 8.5 A at 400 V for reversing or inching duty, and an AC-12 rating of 10 A for resistive loads. The front and terminal enclosure are IP20-rated, meaning it's protected against finger contact but requires installation inside a panel or enclosure with a higher overall IP rating. Mounting is via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, with a 45 mm width that takes up one standard 45 mm slot in the panel. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with a maximum operating altitude of 2000 m.
Termination and wiring
Main circuit connections use screw-type terminals. The terminal accepts solid or stranded conductors: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or 1x 12. Depth is 72 mm, which is the dimension from the DIN rail mounting surface to the frontmost point — critical when laying out panel depth against gland plates or door-mounted components.
