The Siemens 3RT1017-1AV02 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor — a compact, general-purpose switching device for motor and resistive loads in control panels. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, so it drops into any standard panel layout without adapter brackets.
Ratings that decide the fit
The 24 VDC coil pulls 10 A at rated voltage — that's the continuous current the control transformer or power supply must deliver. At 60 VDC it switches 2 A, at 110 VDC 1 A, and at 220 VDC 0.3 A; these are the inductive-load limits for DC switching, where arc extinction is harder than AC. For AC motor duty at 400 V, the AC-4 rating is 8.5 A — this governs plugging and inching cycles, not just steady running. Mechanical endurance is 30 million operations typical — that's a decade-plus of frequent cycling in a packaging or material-handling line before the contactor wears out. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, and altitude is limited to 2 000 m without derating. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for conductive dust and humidity typical of industrial enclosures — not clean-room or sealed-panel environments.
Wiring and panel fit
Terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded. The screw-type main circuit terminals are standard for panel wiring — no special tooling needed. Dimensions are 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm high, 72 mm deep, so it fits a standard 45 mm DIN-rail slot with room for side-by-side mounting (6 mm side clearance required). IP20 on the front and terminals means finger-safe when installed in a closed panel — not for open-panel or washdown locations.
