S00 power contactor, 12 VDC coil — panel fit and ratings
The Siemens 3RT1017-1BA41 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame size, rated for a 12 VDC coil with a pickup threshold of 0.85 x rated voltage and dropout at 1.1 x rated voltage. Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, occupying a 45 mm width and 57.5 mm height with a 72 mm depth — fits standard S00 cutouts in motor control centers and distribution boards. Rated for AC-3 motor switching at 5.5 kW on 400 V and 690 V three-phase, and delivers 8.5 A in AC-4 duty at 400 V for reversing or inching applications. The AC-12 resistive load maximum is 10 A. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) conductors — solid or stranded — with AWG equivalents of 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), or 1x 12. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with 6 mm clearance at the side. Rated for pollution degree 3 environments and operates from -25 to +60 °C, with a maximum installation altitude of 2 000 m. Front and terminal protection is IP20.
Coil and auxiliary contact details
The DC magnet coil draws 3.3 W during both closing and holding — a constant-power design that simplifies thermal management in the panel. One instantaneous contact is included. Switching capacity across the auxiliary contacts: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 6 A at 230 V, and 3 A at 400 V — covering typical control voltages in mixed AC/DC panels.
Coordination and mechanical endurance
Type 1 coordination requires a 35 A gL/gG fuse; Type 2 coordination requires a 20 A gL/gG fuse — specify the fuse link based on whether you accept limited contact welding (Type 1) or no welding (Type 2) after a short circuit. Mechanical endurance is rated at 30 million operating cycles — typical for S00 contactors in high-cycling conveyor or shuttle applications where the contactor sees frequent on/off duty.
