What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT1017-1BB41-ZX95 is a SIRIUS-branded power contactor in the S00 frame size, designed for switching motor loads in control panels. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, so it integrates directly into a standard panel layout without adapters. The 24 VDC coil draws 3.3 W for both closing and holding, which means the power supply sizing is straightforward — no inrush spike to budget for. The pickup threshold is 0.85 of rated voltage, so it pulls in reliably at 20.4 VDC. Rated for AC-1 resistive loads at 10 A (24 V) and AC-3 motor switching at 5.5 kW up to 500 V and 690 V. For reversing or plugging duty (AC-4), it handles 8.5 A at 400 V — a figure that governs the real thermal stress in high-cycle applications.
Mounting and wiring constraints
At 45 mm wide and 72 mm deep, this contactor occupies a single 45 mm slot on the DIN rail. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, with a 6 mm clearance required at the side — that keeps the fill factor predictable when laying out a multi-contactor row. Main circuit terminals are screw-type, accepting 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) solid, 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) stranded, or up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) max. AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16) and 2x (18 to 14), with a single 12 AWG also accepted. The IP20 rating on the front and terminals means it's protected against finger contact in a closed panel.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor after a short circuit), use a gL/gG fuse rated at 20 A. For Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault), a 35 A gL/gG fuse is specified. This lets the panel designer choose the protection philosophy without oversizing. Mechanical endurance is rated at 30 million operating cycles typical, which suits high-throughput conveyor or packaging lines where the contactor cycles every few seconds.
