Integrator note — 3RT1017-1BB42-ZW98
The Siemens 3RT1017-1BB42-ZW98 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S00, rated for motor switching up to 5.5 kW at 690 V AC-3 duty. The 24 V DC coil pulls 3.3 W closing and holding — no AC hum, no separate rectifier needed. Pick-up voltage is 0.85 x rated (20.4 V), drop-out at 1.1 x rated (26.4 V).
Mounting and panel fit
Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, or screws directly to the panel. The 45 mm width and 72 mm depth fit standard control-panel spacing. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with 6 mm clearance between units — no derating for thermal stacking at rated load. Main circuit terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) solid/stranded, plus AWG equivalents 2x (20 to 16), 2x (18 to 14), 1x 12. Screw-type terminals — no special tooling needed.
Switching ratings and coordination
AC-3 motor switching: 5.5 kW at 500 V and 5.5 kW at 690 V. AC-2 at 400 V also rated 5.5 kW. AC-4 at 400 V carries 8.5 A for reversing or inching duty. DC switching ratings: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V — useful for DC motor or resistive loads. Type 1 coordination requires a 35 A gL/gG fuse; Type 2 coordination needs a 20 A gL/gG fuse. Pollution degree 3 suits industrial environments with conductive contamination. IP20 on front and terminals — install inside an enclosure rated for the environment.
