SIRIUS S00 power contactor with 230 V DC coil
The Siemens 3RT1017-1BP41 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S00, rated for 10 A at AC-12 (resistive load) and designed for screw-type main circuit terminals. The 230 V DC coil draws 3.3 W for both pick-up and hold, so there is no inrush spike to size your control transformer around — a straight DC load the whole time. It snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 and measures 45 mm wide by 57.5 mm tall by 72 mm deep — the S00 frame saves panel space compared to the next size up, S0. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with 6 mm spacing to the side, so you can gang several contactors on a rail without derating for heat buildup.
Switching capability across DC voltage levels
DC load switching is voltage-dependent: at 24 V the contactor handles 10 A, at 60 V it drops to 2 A, at 110 V to 1 A, and at 220 V to 0.3 A. That 10 A at 24 V is the figure most maintenance techs will care about for a 24 VDC control bus or small DC motor brake — the rating drops fast once you go above 60 V, so spec the right coil voltage for the DC load you are actually switching. On AC motor duty: at AC-2 (slip-ring motors) it delivers 5.5 kW at 400 V; at AC-4 (plugging/reversing/inching) it is rated 8.5 A at 400 V. The AC-4 rating is the one to watch for frequent jogging applications — it governs contact life under high electrical stress.
Mounting and wiring integration
Screw terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) solid/stranded, 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²) — covers standard panel wire sizes without needing ferrule adapters. AWG equivalents are 2x (20 to 16) and 2x (18 to 14), plus a single 12 AWG. The IP20 finger-safe terminal shroud means you can work live in a panel without arc-flash PPE for the contactor itself, though the upstream protective device still sets the safety boundary. Coordination type 2 requires a 20 A gL/gG fuse upstream; type 1 allows a 35 A gL/gG fuse. If your panel spec calls for type 2 coordination (minimal damage to the contactor under fault), the 20 A fuse is the one to order alongside this part.
Environmental limits and approvals
Rated for operation from -25 °C to +60 °C ambient, with a maximum installation altitude of 2 000 m without derating. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution, typical for industrial control panels without climate control). The contactor carries a mechanical life of 30 million operations — the figure that matters for high-cycle applications like conveyor indexing or packaging machinery.
