S00 frame, 45 mm — panel fit and mounting
The 3RT1017-2AM22 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor from Siemens, sized at 45 mm wide by 60 mm high by 73 mm deep. Side-by-side mounting is permitted — no mandatory gap between units, which saves rail space when ganging multiple contactors. Terminals are spring-loaded on the main circuit, accepting 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded — or 2x (24 to 14 AWG). No screw torque to verify; strip length is consistent across all terminations.
Motor duty ratings — AC-2 and AC-4 at 400 V
Rated for motor switching: at 400 V AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors, moderate overload) it delivers 5.5 kW; at AC-4 (plugging, inching, reversing) it carries 8.5 A. At 500 V and 690 V AC-2 it also delivers 5.5 kW. That means it handles a standard 5.5 kW induction motor on a 400 V line, but if your application involves frequent reversing or jogging, the AC-4 current rating is the one to watch — 8.5 A, not the full-load motor current.
Auxiliary contact ratings and coil data
The built-in auxiliary contacts are rated 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 6 A at 230 V. These cover typical PLC-level signals and pilot-duty loads — no separate aux block needed for basic feedback. Mechanical life is typically 30 million cycles — this is a high-endurance design for frequent switching applications like conveyor lines or pump cycling. The coil is rated for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz operation (0.8-1.1 x Us at 50 Hz, 0.85-1.1 x Us at 60 Hz), so it works on either supply frequency without a hardware change.
