What it is and what it fits
The Siemens 3RT1017-2AV02 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the size S00 frame. It mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, so it drops into any standard panel without adapters. The 45 mm width and 73 mm depth mean it fits shallow enclosures and leaves room for auxiliary blocks alongside. Spring-loaded terminals on the main current circuit accept 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire, or 2x (24 to 14 AWG). No screwdriver needed for the power connections — good for quick swaps in a live panel if the line's down.
Ratings that matter for the panel
Rated operational voltage is 400 V at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. The contactor carries motor loads: at AC-2 duty at 400 V it's rated for 5.5 kW, and at AC-4 at 400 V the operating current is 8.5 A. That AC-4 rating is the one that governs reversing or jogging duty — the contactor sees the full locked-rotor current each cycle. For resistive loads (AC-12), the maximum operating current is 10 A at 24 V. The DC switching ratings drop off fast: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V — so if you're switching DC solenoids, watch the voltage curve.
Mounting and environment
Side-by-side mounting is permitted, which saves rail space when you need multiple contactors in a row. The front has IP20 finger protection; the terminals also carry IP20. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with a maximum altitude of 2000 m. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive dust or moisture.
