What this SIRIUS S00 contactor brings to the panel
The Siemens 3RT1017-2CB04-ZX95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame, rated for motor switching up to 5.5 kW at both 500 V and 690 V under AC-3 duty. That means it handles the full load of a typical 5.5 kW three-phase motor — pump, fan, conveyor — without derating at the higher voltage. The built-in varistor surge suppressor clips coil-switching transients, so you can skip adding an external snubber on the control side. Spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire, which speeds wiring in a panel build.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 — no tools needed for the rail, just a screwdriver for the spring terminals. At 45 mm wide and 60 mm tall, it fits a standard 45 mm slot in a motor control centre or distribution panel. Depth is 114 mm, so check your enclosure depth if you're packing multiple rows. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with 6 mm clearance to adjacent devices. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation — typical for a non-sealed panel.
Ratings that matter for motor control
The AC-4 rating at 400 V is 8.5 A — that's the inching/jogging duty cycle where the contactor makes and breaks stalled rotor current. For normal AC-3 running starts, the motor power is 5.5 kW at 500 V and 690 V. The coil is 24 V at 50/60 Hz with an operating range of 0.8 to 1.1 times rated voltage — so it picks up reliably down to about 19.2 V and holds in up to 26.4 V. Auxiliary contacts: one normally open instantaneous, rated 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V. For short-circuit protection, the manufacturer specifies a gL/gG fuse of 20 A with type 2 coordination.
