The Siemens 3RT1017-2JB41 is a SIRIUS S00-size power contactor with a 24 VDC coil, rated to switch 10 A in AC-12 duty. It carries spring-loaded terminals for the main circuit and an integrated diode surge suppressor across the coil — no external flywheel diode needed on the panel wiring. The contactor snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 and fits a 45 mm wide footprint, leaving room for a side-mounted auxiliary contact block if the single instantaneous contact isn't enough.
Coil and switching ratings
The DC coil holds at 24 V nominal and draws 2.3 W for both closing and holding — no power drop after pickup, so the control transformer or DC supply must sustain that continuously. Switching capacity drops with voltage: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V. For motor loads at 400 V, the contactor is rated 5.5 kW in AC-2 duty and 8.5 A in AC-4 (reversing or inching). At 690 V it still handles 5.5 kW, which matters for 690 V distribution systems common in mining or marine panels.
Mounting and integration
Screw and snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with 6 mm spacing at the side — no derating required for adjacent units if ambient stays within -25 to +60 °C. The spring-loaded terminals accept 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2x (24 to 14 AWG). Pollution degree 3 rating means it's suited for control panels in industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation.
