The Siemens 3RT1017-2JB42 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame, designed for switching loads up to 10 A at 24 V DC and 5.5 kW at 400 V AC-3. The 24 V DC coil draws a constant 2.3 W both on pickup and hold, with an integrated diode surge suppressor — no external flyback diode needed, which saves a wiring step and a panel component.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. The 45 mm width and 73 mm depth fit standard panel cutouts; side-by-side mounting is allowed with a 6 mm air gap to adjacent devices. Spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.25–2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire — no screw torque to verify, which speeds panel wiring.
Switching ratings and coordination
Rated for AC-3 motor switching at 5.5 kW across 400 V to 690 V. AC-4 at 400 V handles 8.5 A for reversing or inching duty. For type 2 coordination, a 20 A gL/gG fuse is specified; type 1 allows a 35 A fuse. The contactor carries a pollution degree 3 rating and IP20 on the front and terminals — suitable for enclosed panels where no washdown is required.
