SIRIUS S00 power contactor – 24 VDC coil, spring-loaded terminals, integrated varistor
The 3RT1017-2KB48-3LA0: This Siemens SIRIUS S00 power contactor (size S00) carries a 24 VDC coil with an integrated varistor surge suppressor across the coil terminals — no external snubber needed for DC switching transients. The coil draws 11 W on pickup and holds at 4 W. Spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.25…2.5 mm²) solid/stranded or 2x (24…14 AWG) conductors; the auxiliary contact block is a separate add-on. Rated for screw and snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, 45 mm wide, 60 mm tall, 123 mm deep. Operating temperature range -40 to +70 °C, pollution degree 3, IP20 on the front and at the terminals.
Motor switching ratings – AC-2, AC-4, and coordination
In AC-2 duty (slip-ring motor starting) at 400 V, the contactor switches 5.5 kW. For AC-4 duty (plugging/inching of squirrel-cage motors) at 400 V, the rated operational current is 8.5 A. The AC-12 maximum operating current is 10 A. For type 2 coordination (no-weld after short circuit), the required upstream fuse is 20 A gL/gG; for type 1 coordination, 35 A gL/gG. The main contact is a single NO instantaneous contact.
Panel integration – DIN rail and wiring
Snap-on mounting onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 50022. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with 6 mm clearance at the side. The spring-loaded terminals accept solid or ferruled stranded conductors 0.25…2.5 mm² (24…14 AWG) — strip length is not specified but standard 8–10 mm works for spring-cage terminations. Pollution degree 3 means the contactor is rated for industrial environments with conductive pollution; no additional enclosure sealing is required for the contactor itself beyond the panel's IP rating.
