What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1023-1AP00-1AA0 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S0 frame size, with three normally-open main contacts and screw-type terminals. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, using either screw or snap-on mounting, and side-by-side mounting is permitted. The front face is IP20 rated; the terminal area is IP00. For motor loads, it is rated 4.5 kW at 400 V in AC-2 duty and 5.5 kW at 690 V. The AC-4 switching current is 8.5 A at 400 V — the figure that governs reversing or inching applications where the contactor makes and breaks stalled-rotor current. Mechanical life is rated at 10 million operations. Auxiliary contact ratings are voltage-dependent: 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V — the lower current at higher DC voltages reflects the arc-extinction limit of the contact gap.
Mounting and wiring
The contactor occupies a 45 mm wide DIN-rail footprint, 85 mm tall, 91 mm deep. Main-circuit screw terminals accept 2x (1 to 2.5 mm²) stranded or 2x (2.5 to 6 mm²) solid, with a maximum of 2x 10 mm². Auxiliary terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) stranded, max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). AWG equivalents for main contacts are 2x (16 to 12) and 2x (14 to 10), with a single 8 AWG maximum. Short-circuit coordination: with type 2 coordination, use a gL/gG fuse rated 25 A; with type 1 coordination, the fuse can be 63 A. The operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with a maximum installation altitude of 2000 m. Pollution degree is 3 (conductive pollution or dry non-conductive that becomes conductive).
