SIRIUS S0 power contactor for motor and resistive loads
The Siemens 3RT1023-1AR64 is a SIRIUS S0-frame power contactor rated for switching motor loads at 4 kW under AC-2 duty at 400 V, and 8.5 A under AC-4 duty at 400 V — the AC-4 figure governs reversing or inching applications where the contacts break full motor current. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept up to 2x 10 mm² stranded, with auxiliary contacts rated 10 A at 24 V and 6 A at 230 V. The coil operates on 50/60 Hz with a pick-up range of 0.8...1.1 x rated voltage at 50 Hz and 0.85...1.1 at 60 Hz. Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, with a 45 mm width that fits standard panel spacing. Side-by-side mounting is permitted with 6 mm clearance at the side, and the front face carries IP20 protection while the terminal area is IP00 — plan for enclosure protection if the panel environment is dusty or wet. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with pollution degree 3 rated for industrial atmospheres.
Coordination and protection requirements
For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor on a short-circuit), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 25 A. For Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault), a gL/gG 63 A fuse is permitted. The mechanical life is rated at 10 million operations typical, making it suitable for high-cycle applications like conveyor or pump control where the contactor sees frequent switching.
