SIRIUS S0 power contactor, 220 VAC coil
The 3RT1023-1BM44: Mounting is via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, with side-by-side mounting permitted — no gap required between units for standard thermal conditions. The contactor measures 45 mm wide, 85 mm tall, and 150 mm deep, fitting into a standard S0 panel footprint. The front face carries an IP20 rating; the terminal area is IP00, so live parts are exposed during wiring — panel builders should account for this in their gland-plate and cover design.
Termination and wiring
Both main and auxiliary/control circuits use screw-type terminals. Main terminals accept 2x (1.0–2.5 mm²) solid/stranded, 2x (2.5–6 mm²), or max 2x 10 mm². Auxiliary terminals accept 2x (0.5–1.5 mm²) solid, 2x (0.75–2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75–4 mm²). AWG equivalents are listed for both. Coil power draw is 5.4 W DC for both closing and holding — a single value, meaning the magnet circuit does not drop to a lower hold power. This matters for control-transformer sizing and DC-supply budgeting in the panel.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination (no-weld after fault), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 25 A. For Type 1 coordination (welding allowed but no fire risk), the fuse rating is gL/gG 63 A. These are the manufacturer's specified limits for the main circuit. The contactor is rated for pollution degree 3 (industrial environment with conductive or dry non-conductive pollution), and operates over -25 to +60 °C ambient. Storage temperature range is wider but not specified here — the operating range governs panel placement and derating.
Switching ratings and load types
AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors) at 400 V: 4 kW. AC-4 duty (plugging/inching) at 400 V: 8.5 A. These are the ratings for reversing or jogging applications where the contactor makes and breaks the motor current at standstill or low speed. DC switching ratings are provided per voltage: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V. These cover the auxiliary contact block's DC load-breaking capability — relevant for PLC inputs, DC brake coils, or indicator lamps. Motor power ratings at higher line voltages: 4.5 kW at 500 V, 5.5 kW at 690 V — typical for 500 V or 690 V industrial networks (mining, marine, heavy industry).
Lifecycle and compliance
Substance prohibitance date is listed as 01.07.2006, aligning with RoHS compliance (EU RoHS took effect July 2006). The reference code per IEC 81346-2 is Q (switching device).
