SIRIUS S0 contactor — panel-fit and electrical ratings
The Siemens 3RT1024-1AD00 is a SIRIUS S0 power contactor with three normally-open main contacts and zero NC main contacts. It snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 and accepts screw-type terminals for both main and auxiliary circuits — the main terminals handle 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²) stranded, up to 2x 4 mm² max. On the switching side, the contactor is rated 12.5 A in AC-4 duty at 400 V — that's the category for reversing, inching, and plugging of squirrel-cage motors, where the contacts make and break locked-rotor current. For continuous motor starting (AC-2), it delivers 5.5 kW at 400 V, and for general power distribution, it handles 7.5 kW at both 500 V and 690 V. The coil operates at 50 Hz, 42 V rated value. Mechanical endurance is listed at 10 million cycles typical.
Short-circuit coordination and compliance
The 3RT1024-1AD00 is in current lifecycle stage. For type 2 coordination (no welding, contactor remains operational after a fault), the fuse drops to 25 A gL/gG. These fuse ratings define the maximum prospective fault current the contactor can withstand without catastrophic failure. RoHS compliance is established with a substance prohibition date of 01.07.2006, covering the original EU directive.
Auxiliary switching and wiring notes
Auxiliary contacts are rated for AC-12 duty at 10 A maximum. The contactor carries specific switching capacities at various voltages: 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V. These are the make-and-break ratings for the control circuit — useful when sizing pilot devices or PLC outputs feeding the coil. Auxiliary terminal wiring accepts 2x (1…2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, up to 2x 10 mm² max. AWG equivalents for main contacts are 2x (16…12) and 2x (14…10), with a single 8 AWG maximum. For auxiliary contacts, AWG runs 2x (20…16) and 2x (18…14), single 12 AWG max.
