The Siemens 3RT1024-1AP00-ZW95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S0, built for switching three-phase motor loads up to 7.5 kW at 690 V. It carries three normally-open main contacts and is rated 12.5 A in AC-4 duty at 400 V — that's the heavy switching category for reversing, inching, or plugging where the contacts make and break full motor current under load. The AC-4 figure, not the thermal current, is the one that governs real service life in demanding applications.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, or can be screw-mounted. At 45 mm wide and 85 mm tall, it fits standard S0 contactor spacing in a panel. The 91 mm depth leaves room for wiring ducts and auxiliary contact blocks on the front. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with 6 mm clearance to the side — no derating required for adjacent units in still air.
Termination and wiring
Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept solid or stranded copper: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or up to 2x 4 mm². For the power circuit, the range goes to 2x 10 mm². AWG equivalents are 2x (16 to 12), 2x (14 to 10), or 1x 8. The control circuit terminals handle the same solid range. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive contamination — no conformal coating required for normal panel conditions.
Coordination and protection
For Type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor under short circuit), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 25 A. For Type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after a fault), a 63 A gL/gG fuse is allowed. The contactor itself has no built-in instantaneous overcurrent trip — it relies on the upstream protective device for fault clearing.
