SIRIUS S0 power contactor for motor loads up to 7.5 kW
The Siemens 3RT1024-1AQ24 is a SIRIUS S0-frame power contactor rated for AC-3 motor switching at 7.5 kW at both 500 V and 690 V, making it a direct fit for 400 V-class three-phase motors in the 7.5 kW range and for 690 V line applications common in mining, pumping, and conveyor systems. The 45 mm width and 85 mm height fit the standard S0 footprint; screw and snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 means it drops into any panel already tooled for SIRIUS contactors without drilling or adapter plates. Rated for continuous operation from -25 °C to +60 °C, with a maximum operating altitude of 2,000 m — no derating needed for most indoor industrial environments.
AC-4 reversing and high-inrush duty
For reversing or plugging duty (AC-4), the contactor is rated at 12.5 A at 400 V — a useful figure when sizing for frequent reversals on a conveyor or hoist where the motor sees repeated inrush. The AC-3 rating at 400 V is 5.5 kW, which is the standard motor-switching figure for a 7.5 kW motor at 400 V (since AC-3 derates from the 690 V rating). The AC-12 rating (control-circuit switching) is 10 A at 24 V, covering most PLC output or relay pilot-duty loads.
Coordination and protection
Type 1 coordination (no damage to the contactor, but may need replacement after a fault) requires a 63 A gL/gG fuse upstream. Type 2 coordination (contactor remains operational after clearing a fault) needs a 25 A gL/gG fuse. This distinction matters when the panel spec calls for Type 2 — the 25 A fuse is the tighter limit. The screw-type main terminals accept up to 2x 10 mm² stranded or 1x AWG 8, with solid wire options down to 0.5 mm². The auxiliary contacts (2 instantaneous) use the same screw terminal range.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The IP20 front protection means it is suitable for enclosed panels where the front face is accessible; the IP00 terminal area requires the installer to maintain basic finger-safe clearance or cover terminals after wiring.
