What this contactor is and where it lands
The Siemens 3RT1024-1AT60 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S0 frame size, designed for switching three-phase motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. It carries three normally-open main contacts and is terminated with screw-type terminals for the main circuit. The 45 mm width and snap-on mounting to 35 mm DIN rail (DIN EN 50022) mean it fits standard panel layouts without extra bracketing. Rated for 7.5 kW at 690 V and 7.5 kW at 500 V, this contactor handles motor loads up to those power levels in AC-3 duty. The AC-4 rating at 400 V is 12.5 A, which governs reversing or inching applications where the contacts make and break under load more frequently. The IP20 front enclosure protects against finger contact during panel servicing, while the terminals themselves are IP00 — standard for enclosed panel mounting where the cabinet provides the outer protection. Pollution degree 3 means it is suited for industrial environments with conductive pollution, typical of factory-floor panels.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 50022. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, requiring only 6 mm clearance at the side for heat dissipation and arc clearance. The S0 frame occupies 45 mm of DIN rail width, leaving room for auxiliary contact blocks or overload relays in the same row. Wire termination: solid conductors accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded conductors accept 2x (1 to 2.5 mm²), 2x (2.5 to 6 mm²), or max 2x 10 mm². AWG equivalents for main contacts: 2x (16 to 12), 2x (14 to 10), or 1x 8. These ranges cover most panel wiring from control-circuit sizes up to motor feeders.
Coordination and protection
For Type 1 coordination (no damage to the contactor, but contacts may weld), the required upstream fuse is gL/gG 63 A. For Type 2 coordination (no welding, contactor remains operational after a fault), the required fuse is gL/gG 25 A. These values guide the selection of branch-circuit protection for the motor starter assembly. Mechanical life is rated at 10,000,000 operating cycles typical. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C during operation, with a maximum operating altitude of 2,000 m without derating. The operating factor at 60 Hz is 0.8 to 1.1, which defines the permissible duty cycle relative to the rated current.
