What the ratings mean for fit in a panel
The 3RT1024-1BB40-1AA0: The 5.5 kW AC-3 rating at 400 V is the motor-switching figure that governs most line starts — that covers a standard 7.5 hp induction motor on 400 V three-phase. For reversing or inching duty, the AC-4 rating of 12.5 A at 400 V is the number to watch, not the AC-3 kW. Coil holds at 24 V DC nominal; the 10 A inrush is the peak pull-in current, not the steady draw. The S0 frame keeps width to 45 mm, so it fits a standard 45 mm slot on the rail.
Mounting and wiring constraints
Snap-on mounting onto 35 mm rail per DIN EN 50022. Main circuit terminals accept 2x (1 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, max 2x 10 mm². Auxiliary and control circuit terminals take 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) solid, max 2x 4 mm². Side clearance of 6 mm is needed for side-by-side mounting. Front face is IP20; the terminal area is IP00, so the panel enclosure provides the overall IP rating.
Thermal and coordination notes
Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, pollution degree 3 (conductive or dry non-conductive pollution typical of industrial panels). For type of coordination 2, the recommended fuse is gL/gG 25 A; for type 1 coordination, 63 A. Mechanical life is typical 10 million operations.
