What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1024-1BB40-ZW96 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S0, designed for switching motor loads in industrial control panels. It carries a 24 VDC coil with a closing and holding power of 5.4 W each, and is rated for 7.5 kW at both 500 V and 690 V. The AC-4 switching current at 400 V is 12.5 A, covering demanding reversing or inching duty cycles.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. The 45 mm width and 85 mm height fit standard S0 panel layouts; depth is 101 mm. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with a 6 mm gap to adjacent devices for thermal dissipation. The main circuit uses screw-type terminals accepting up to 2x 10 mm² stranded or 1x 8 AWG.
Coordination and protection
For type 2 coordination (no damage to the contactor on a short circuit), use a gL/gG fuse rated 25 A. For type 1 coordination (contactor may need replacement after fault), the fuse can go up to 63 A. The contactor is rated for pollution degree 3, suitable for industrial environments with conductive contamination.
