SIRIUS S2 Power Contactor — 15 kW AC-2, 18.5 kW AC-3
It is rated 15 kW at 400 V in AC-2 duty (slip-ring motors, reversing starts) and 18.5 kW at 500 V in AC-3 duty (squirrel-cage motors, direct-on-line starts), with a 10 kW rating at 690 V AC-3. The coil is wound for 42 V at 50/60 Hz, with an operating range of 0.8...1.1 x Us at 50 Hz and 0.85...1.1 x Us at 60 Hz. The main current circuit uses screw-type terminals accepting solid conductors from 2x (0.5...1.5 mm²) up to 2x (0.75...4 mm²) and stranded conductors up to 2x (0.75...25 mm²).
Duty Ratings and Switching Capability
AC-2 rating of 15 kW at 400 V makes this contactor suited for slip-ring motor applications where starting current is limited and switching frequency is moderate — up to 750 operations per hour at AC-2 maximum. AC-3 rating reaches 18.5 kW at 500 V and 10 kW at 690 V, with a maximum switching frequency of 1,000 ops/h at AC-3. For heavy jogging or plugging duty (AC-4), the rate drops to 250 ops/h. DC switching capability is present but limited: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V.
The enclosure is rated IP20 on the front (finger-safe terminals) and IP00 at the terminal connection points — install inside a panel with a higher overall enclosure rating. Dimensions are 112 mm height, 55 mm width, 115 mm depth, fitting the S2 footprint common across the SIRIUS 3RT1 series.
