Rated switching and thermal capacity
At AC-3 duty (standard motor switching), the contactor handles up to 1000 operations per hour. AC-4 duty (plugging/inching) is rated at 250 operations per hour. The AC-3 rating at 400 V is 15 kW; at 500 V, 18.5 kW; at 690 V, 10 kW. For resistive loads (AC-1), the maximum switching rate is 1200 operations per hour. These ratings define the thermal and mechanical envelope for motor starting and stopping in a control panel.
Wiring and terminal capacity
The main circuit screw terminals accept solid conductors: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), and max. 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded conductors: 2x (0.75 to 25 mm²). For mixed solid/stranded: 2x (0.75 to 16 mm²). At 40 °C, the minimum permissible conductor cross-section is 16 mm². These ranges cover typical motor feeder cables up to 25 mm² stranded, matching the S2 frame's power throughput.
Control circuit ratings
The auxiliary contact ratings cover common control voltages: at 24 V rated value 10 A, at 60 V rated value 2 A, at 110 V rated value 1 A, at 220 V rated value 0.3 A, at 230 V rated value 6 A, at 400 V rated value 3 A. The operating range at 50 Hz is 0.8 to 1.1 times rated voltage. These values guide coil selection and ensure reliable pick-up and drop-out across typical control transformer outputs.
