What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1034-1AP00-ZW96 is a SIRIUS power contactor, size S2, designed for switching motor loads in industrial control panels. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 via screw or snap-on, and uses screw-type terminals for the main current circuit. Rated for AC-2 duty at 400 V at 15 kW, and AC-4 at 400 V at 29 A, this contactor handles high-inertia or reversing loads where the switching frequency is demanding. The 55 mm width and 112 mm height fit standard panel layouts; side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can pack multiple units on the rail without derating for proximity.
Terminal and wiring detail
Solid wire accepts 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), and max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded wire takes 2x (0.75 to 25 mm²). At 40 °C, the minimum permissible cross-section is 16 mm². The front is IP20 (finger-safe), but the terminal area is IP00 — so the panel must provide the enclosure protection.
Environmental and mounting constraints
Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. Pollution degree 3 means it's suited for industrial environments with conductive pollution. The contactor is rated at 50 Hz, with a rated operational voltage of 230 V at 50 Hz.
