What it is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1034-1AV00-1AA0 is a size S2 power contactor from the SIRIUS family, designed for switching motor loads in industrial control panels. It carries an AC-3 rating of 18.5 kW at 500 V and an AC-2 rating of 15 kW at 400 V, meaning it handles both standard squirrel-cage motors (AC-3) and slip-ring or wound-rotor motors (AC-2) up to those power levels. The AC-4 rating of 29 A at 400 V covers inching and plugging duty cycles.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. The 55 mm width and 112 mm height fit standard S2 panel layouts. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can gang multiple contactors without a mandatory air gap — just watch the thermal derating if you pack them tight. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept solid conductors up to 2x 4 mm² or stranded up to 2x 25 mm². The auxiliary circuit terminals handle 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) stranded. Strip length and torque specs follow standard Siemens practice for this terminal family.
Electrical environment and ratings
Rated insulation voltage is 400 V at 50 Hz. Pollution degree 3 means it's suited for industrial environments with conductive or dry non-conductive pollution. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. The contactor's mechanical endurance is rated at 10 million operations typical. Switching frequency varies by duty: up to 1200 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 1000 at AC-3 (motor running), 750 at AC-2, and 250 at AC-4 (inching/plugging). Arcing time is 10 to 15 ms; operate time at AC coil is 7 to 20 ms. Auxiliary contact ratings: 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V. These are the thermal current ratings for the built-in auxiliary contacts.
