What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1034-3AP06 is a SIRIUS S2 power contactor — a 3-pole, screw-type terminal unit sized for motor loads on 400 V three-phase systems. Its AC-2 rating at 400 V is 15 kW, which covers wound-rotor motor switching and moderate-duty conveyor drives. The AC-4 rating at 400 V is 29 A, for plugging and inching applications. Rated operational frequency at AC-3 hits 1 000 switching cycles per hour, so it handles a fast-pick line without derating. Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can pack multiple contactors on a rail without mandatory spacing gaps — useful when panel width is tight. The S2 frame size (75 mm wide, 112 mm tall, 115 mm deep) is the mid-range in the SIRIUS contactor family.
Wiring and environment
Main circuit terminals accept solid conductors 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) and stranded 2x (0.75... 25 mm²). The larger stranded range means you can land a 16 mm² supply cable on the line side without a ferrule adapter. Pollution degree 3 rating tells you it's built for the conductive-dust environment inside an industrial enclosure — not a clean-room part. Operating temperature range -25 to +60 °C; storage from -55 to +80 °C. The front panel carries IP20 finger protection; the terminal area is IP00 — that's normal for a panel-mounted contactor where the enclosure provides the overall IP rating.
