SIRIUS S2 power contactor — what it carries and where it fits
The 3RT1034-3XB40-0LA2: Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept stranded conductors up to 2x 25 mm² and solid up to 2x 2.5 mm², which covers the feed and motor cable for the full rated load without needing lug adapters. The auxiliary contact block is rated 10 A at 24 VDC, 6 A at 230 VAC, and 3 A at 400 VAC — enough for a PLC input or a holding-circuit interlock. Mechanical life is 10 million cycles; maximum switching frequency at AC-3 duty is 1,000 operations per hour, so it handles frequent start-stop cycles on a conveyor or press without derating. Arcing time runs 10–15 ms, and DC operating time is 20–30 ms — both within the range for standard motor starter coordination.
Mounting and panel integration
Fastens via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so multiple contactors can pack tightly on the rail without derating for heat buildup. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, downwards, forwards, and to the side — standard for S2 frame spacing in a 55 mm wide footprint. Operating temperature range is -40 to +70 °C, storage -55 to +80 °C. That covers most indoor panel environments and unheated warehouses. The 130 mm depth fits standard 200 mm deep enclosures with room for wiring ducts.
