What the ratings mean for fit
The 3RT1035-1AP04-3MA0: The AC-3 rating at 400 V is 18.5 kW, and at 500 V it's 22 kW — these are the numbers that tell you what induction motor this contactor can switch under full load. For heavy-duty jogging or inching (AC-4), it's rated 35 A at 400 V, so it handles plugging and reversing duty on smaller motors. Mechanical endurance is typical 10,000,000 operations, which is standard for a SIRIUS S2 frame. The coil operates on 230 V at 50 Hz, with an operating range of 0.8 to 1.1 times rated voltage, so it holds in during brownout conditions down to about 184 V.
Terminal and wiring
Main current circuit uses screw-type terminals. Solid conductors: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded: 2x (0.75 to 25 mm²). That's enough for the full rated current on a 22 kW motor at 500 V — you'd typically land 6 mm² or 10 mm² stranded. At 40 °C the minimum permissible conductor is 16 mm² for the main circuit, which matters if you're derating for a warm enclosure. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can gang multiple contactors without derating the thermal capacity.
Auxiliary contacts
Built-in auxiliary contact block rated: 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V. That's a standard 1 NO + 1 NC configuration for the SIRIUS S2 frame — enough for a holding circuit and a status feedback to the PLC without an add-on block.
