What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1035-1XF00-0GA0 is a SIRIUS power contactor in Size S2, designed for switching motor loads in industrial control panels. Its 22 kW rating at 500 V AC-3 means it handles the inrush and running current of a standard three-phase induction motor up to that power, so you can size it directly against the motor nameplate without derating guesswork. The AC-4 rating of 35 A at 400 V covers reversing or plugging duty where the contactor breaks full-load current — useful on crane or conveyor applications that cycle direction under load.
Mounting and integration
Fastens via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, so it drops into any standard panel without adapter plates. The 55 mm width and 142 mm height fit the S2 footprint; depth of 130 mm leaves clearance for wiring ducts and gland plates. Side-by-side mounting is allowed, meaning you can gang multiple contactors on the same rail without derating for heat buildup — a time-saver when building multi-motor sections.
Termination and wiring
Main current circuit uses screw-type terminals. The solid conductor range accepts 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), and max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded wiring goes up to 2x (0.75 to 25 mm²) for the main circuit, so it handles the heavier feeds typical of a 22 kW motor without needing lug adapters. The IP20 front keeps fingers out of the live terminals; the terminal body itself is IP00, which is normal for panel-mount contactors — the enclosure provides the rest of the ingress protection.
