What this contactor is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT1036-1AP00-ZX95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S2 frame size, designed for switching motor loads and resistive loads in industrial control panels. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, using either screw fixing or the integral snap-on clip. The front face carries an IP20 rating, so it's touch-safe once installed in an enclosure; the terminal area itself is IP00, meaning the wiring compartment expects enclosure protection. Rated for 50 Hz operation, it delivers 22 kW in AC-2 duty at 400 V — that's the standard rating for slip-ring motor starting where the contactor opens under load. At 500 V it handles 30 kW, and at 690 V it's rated 11.4 kW. For the heavy inching/jogging duty of AC-4, it's rated 41 A at 400 V. The AC-3 motor-switching rating sits at 800 operations per hour maximum, while AC-4 allows 300 per hour. The coil draws 10 A at 24 V rated value, 6 A at 230 V, and 3 A at 400 V — these are the holding currents, not the pick-up surge. Arcing time across the main poles runs 7 to 20 ms at AC, with a typical arcing time of 10 to 15 ms. That matters for coordination with upstream short-circuit protection: the arc energy has to clear within the breaker's let-through window.
Termination and wiring
Main power terminals are screw-type, accepting solid conductors 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), and up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). For stranded wire, the range goes 2x (0.75 to 25 mm²). The combined solid-or-stranded rating covers 2x (0.75 to 16 mm²). At 40 °C ambient, the minimum permissible conductor size is 16 mm² — that's the thermal derating floor, not a wiring recommendation. The contactor supports side-by-side mounting without derating, which saves rail space when grouping multiple contactors in a motor control center. At 55 mm wide, 112 mm tall, and 115 mm deep, it fits standard 55 mm pitch DIN-rail layouts.
Sourcing note
This is a stocked line item in the independent distribution channel. Availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time against an RFQ. The 3RT1036-1AP00-ZX95 is the exact order code for the screw-terminal, 24 V DC coil variant; if your BOM specifies a different coil voltage or cage-clamp terminals, the 3RT5036-1AP00 (screw, 24 V DC) or 3RT5036-1AB00 (cage-clamp, 24 V DC) are the direct siblings in the same S2 frame.
